Birdbrain

The scene: I'm working at home at my dining room table. I have files spread out all over the place, my laptop is humming away, and I have the back door open to let the fresh air and sun in. Suddenly I am distracted by a noise from the kitchen. I walk into the kitchen just in time to see a bird flit from the top of our mint-green refrigerator and fly like hell back out the back door.

Current status: door closed.

Nightmare!!!! Once, a bird flew into my office, perched itself on my tree, and stared at me. I ran out of the office screaming and hid in the kitchen as people escorted the bird out. Current status: office changed and tree removed.

Fresh air? Sunshine? Are you trying to make us gnash our teeth with jealousy? Where I live, it was 14 degrees fahrenheit and windy as the caverns in the devil's meat locker today.

Welcome to winter in the Midwest.

cee: I'm just waiting for an e-mail from our friend M, who as you know has a extreme distaste for birds. He will probably now never visit the Blah Blah home.

e: Okay, I know. But overnight/in the mornings here it is in the low 40s (hello, desert climate). So it was a bit chilly inside and I didn't want to run the heater. Since the sun was out, I thought I'd let the outside heat in.

Oh, whatever. I know, I'm spoiled.
