Shameless Mommy Blogging

I am once again buying a car seat, because Viva has grown out of the one we use in Sweet Dub’s car. I have been very happy with our Britax Regent (the one in my car), but my God, apparently so is everyone else in the universe. Finding one is like trying to score some high-grade drug [insert your drug of choice here]. This morning, I found myself calling a store in Florida to ensure that they have the Regent in stock. The store representative asked if I had a fax number. He is going to fax me an order form; I then have to fax my order back to him and then call the store back. The store has a Website, but because Regents are in such high demand, they only have one color online. I had learned through an anonymous source that if you call the store, they will check current inventory and pull one in a different color if they have it. Cheesus!

On top of that, I have to buy an additional car seat that is lighter and FAA-approved because Viva is going on a trip with her Auntie Diva in a few weeks. Altogether, this car seat dealio is costing us about 500 clams.

And they wonder why parents these days are so neurotic.

There no price one can place on safety. One merely needs to apply for a new credit card to afford it.

When people tell you having kids is expensive, this is one of the reasons why. Dang!

The other reason is the cost of education, which, as you can see by my earlier note, I skimped on.

I just learned from the WMD's preschool that car seats have an expiration date. Like milk! They claim to have a shelf life of six years. Maybe we need to invent the powdered car seat. Just add water and we're good to go. Geez!

Car seats have a shelf life? Car seats have a shelf life? You say, car seats have a shelf life????????

You know, I thought I commented again when you both actually wrote about the car seat shelf life, but evidently not.

Yes, I found this out myself when I was doing the research. One more way parenthood gets you coming and going!

But then there is the hugging and the little face that practically explodes with joy at your arrival at the end of the day. So, there is that.
