This photo is a bit hazy, because I took it through our front window. Nonetheless, you can sort of make out the charm and beauty that is the Mysterious and Mesmerizing Rat Killer Jean-Jean:
Stay tuned for further news of his death-defying exploits. (I'm fairly certain he's male now, as it appears he has been spraying to mark his territory. Gee whiz, cats are fun.)

OOOOOO! He is mysterious! Now I can picture him in my mind's eye when you describe his exploits. Thanks for posting that. What does Viva think of him prowling in her yard?
Viva is fascinated by him, particularly because he's been feuding with another cat who lives across the street and has the audacity to continually wander onto Jean-Jean's turf. It makes for great window wildlife watching
He's a cutie! I'd kiss him, if it weren't for the essense of rat on him.
Yeah, that rat thing tends to put a damper on things.
Gee whiz, indeed! But he is a beauty! I love long-haired cats, though I've ever only adopted short hairs because it improves my odds ever-so-slightly in the neverending battle against cat hair.
Re: the cat hair, it helps that he doesn't come inside, and I don't think he ever will. He's very shy.
I've had both, and either way the cat hair battle is never-ending. At one time I had three long-haired cats and one short-haired cat in a 2-bedroom apartment. I don't know how I ever survived.
So, I just had to come back and tell you that our new little kitten, Zoey Zoe Zoe, caught a mouse yesterday. In our house. We haven't seen one in the year and a half that we've lived here, but we have the kitten a week and suddenly she's toying with a small, live rodent on our Persian rug. Nothing but excitement with the felines.
Ack! What did you do with the mouse? Did she kill it?
